Makena Homes

Makena homes are considered to be the diamonds in the rough. The narrow paved road stays close to the ocean in the Makena side of South Maui and leads through a Natural Area Reserve until it suddenly ends at La Perouse Bay. A great number of individual properties in Makena are oceanfront and fewer homes on much larger parcels are located mountainside. Another 61 Makena homes are arranged in six different neighborhoods of which four eventually will be commonly gated. The rural settings of Makena real estate created exceptional values.

Maluaka Beach fronting the aged Maui Prince Hotel and Makena's Oneloa Beach, also known as Big Beach, are two of Maui's best white sandy beaches. The unusual rugged shoreline and the endless lava fields make for most of the area's unspoiled beauty. Lots of hidden little coves and sandy patches allow access to the ocean. Makena homes are virtually scattered throughout, always located within walking distance to the water and many of them close to the everlasting sound of the crashing waves.

The Makena Resort with over 1,800 acres is a separate new development that has yet to be defined. At the beginning of 2009, the Maui County granted approval for the build 800 Makena homes or condos over a time period of 15 to 20 years. Makena Resort will encompass great extravagance while maintaining the essential feel of island living. This part of the South Maui shoreline is expected to develop into a world-class travel destination while seeking to preserve the essence of old Hawaii.
