This is about me! I am VWonMaui™. Born as Volker Weiss in Hamburg, Germany. No middle name (thanks Mom!). Today, I am a full-time Maui Real Estate Agent enlisted as Volker Weiss Realtor® (S) with Coldwell Banker Island Properties: Shops At Wailea, aka Coldwell Banker Maui, the #1 Maui Real Estate office and company. My credentials include the prestigious Coldwell Banker Previews® International designation, making me a specialist to market South Maui’s luxury residential properties far beyond our island shores.

As a well-traveled German businessman, I have to admit that the magnificent Maui lifestyle appears to be ‘Engineered to Perfection’. I enjoy beginning my days with a flourish. Shouldering my standup paddle board, I am crossing the street by the house to the beach that’s almost like a front yard. Moments later, after paddling out past the surf, I am up and skimming over moderate waves, balancing perfectly against the light early morning, sunrise breeze. Taking a deep breath, I cherish these moments. Never having to worry about the weather or wrong clothes. I feel completely alive and totally happy when out on the open.

Later in the afternoon, after devoting most of the day to my clients’ business, I am setting out for a peaceful promenade with my wife, Jules. The setting is familiar yet anything but mundane. It’s another spectacular stretch of beach, arching toward a point graced with lush green vegetation and towering palms. The water, sapphire blue much of the day, is darker now as the sun dips toward the line between sky and sea. Pausing at our favorite vantage point, we are claiming front-row seating for yet another splendid sunset viewed from South Maui. It doesn’t get any better than this. This is it! Having visited and worked in many countries around the world, I am absolutely convinced that the island’s magnificent lifestyle has been engineered to perfection.

It’s no surprise that I am completely comfortable around water – and not only paddling, but windsurfing and wave surfing, too. As a youth living in Germany, I was picked for a national program aimed at developing champion swimmers. Enrolled in an exclusive boarding school, I underwent rigorous training in the pool and the classroom. Overall, I pursued competitive swimming for a decade, winning frequently. It taught me that you have to know yourself very well, also that the challenge to your mind is just as great as the challenge to your body. After completing my studies with top honors in English and economics, I was as a far-flung manager in the hospitality industry, serving high-end hotels in Hawaii, Japan, China and Nepal. Ultimately, I returned to Maui, my first love. Here, Jules – who’s been on the island for about 30 years – and I are incredibly happy. We simply can’t imagine living anywhere else.

My hotel certifications rated me as a “high-energy professional”, nevertheless, I also can’t imagine working anywhere else either. Because I am so plugged in to the lifestyle in South Maui, completely in tune with every aspect of the area’s vibrant appeal, a move is simply impossible. My enthusiasm for and my knowledge about the area, especially the ocean-view enclaves of Wailea and Makena, are boundless. I have a strong and lasting bond with this island. It’s a joy for me to helping others discover what makes Maui such a special place or become even more comfortable here.
